Report Out from 5-Year-Old Birder Convert!

February 20, 2016

All right, he IS my son, but this is a thing of total heartwarming satisfaction. Vireo brought home this write up from school; his choice to write and illustrate whatever he felt like sharing. He admitted to me later, "Ma, it's the only thing I could think of," but I will take it!

Translation/Interpretation: "When I went bird-watching." The illustration is of the moment when 4K+ snow geese fanned past high in the air against  blue sky, undulating and murmuring like starlings except time zillions. An incredible sight and one I am so grateful that Vireo remembered and rendered.

I’m Bryony and I write and speak about birding culture.

Here is where I share my latest publications and projects in the niche of recreational birding, birding people doing cool things, conscientious consumerism (specifically as a birder), and birding travel.
