Thoughts from the field

Happy birders birding responsibly, being “Bird Wise”!

Upcoming Speaking Event! Introduction to the Be Bird Wise Campaign, at Skagit Audubon

August 28, 2024

I’m thrilled to share that I am speaking locally in September and would love to meet readers who live in the area! Join me Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in Mount Vernon, Washington for a 7pm presentation about the Be Bird Wise campaign, hosted by Skagit Audubon.

My presentation is titled Supporting Wild Birds and Working Landscapes in Skagit Valley: An Introduction to the Be Bird Wise campaign and how local birders can contribute (I am guilty of long titles—nothing like giving you a clue as to what it’s about, right?). Be Bird Wise is a coalition of stakeholders promoting responsible behavior while viewing migratory birds on the agricultural landscape.

I sit on the Be Bird Wise committee and contribute to its blog and newsletter (which you should subscribe to). I love writing about this effort and now I get to talk about it! Thank you, Skagit Audubon for the invitation!

The event takes place in the theatre at the Padilla Bay/Breazeale Interpretive Center (10441 Bayview Edison Rd, Mount Vernon, WA 98273) near Bayview, WA (map address is Mount Vernon). Doors open at 6:30pm. See you there!!

I’m Bryony and I write and speak about birding culture.

Here is where I share my latest publications and projects in the niche of recreational birding, birding people doing cool things, conscientious consumerism (specifically as a birder), and birding travel.
